Welcome to the “official” website for my father, Glenn “Fireball” Roberts. Thank you for your interest in the man and his career accomplishments. Through the years I have met and heard from many fans personally. It never ceases to amaze me how many of you loved him in life and honor him and his memory after death. I would personally like to thank each of you for remembering my father with such fondness and continued dedication.

8/25: Hometown to Honor Fireball Roberts
Apopka will honor hometown hero and the late NASCAR star Glenn "Fireball" Roberts on Saturday, Sept. 6.
The fund-raising event, held at the suggestion of Roberts' daughter, Pam Roberts of Rockledge, will feature Roberts' famous No. 22 race car and Roberts memorabilia his daughter donated to the Museum of the Apopkans and other exhibits.
Roberts, considered among the best drivers to ever race in NASCAR, was born in Tavares and moved to Apopka with his family before reaching school age. The family moved to Daytona Beach following his sophomore year at Apopka High.
Roberts began racing on the beach as did many early NASCAR stars and eventually transitioned to the pavement races. He went on to win 33 events, including the 1962 Daytona 500, becoming the first and only Central Floridian to win NASCAR's marquee race.
He died July 2, 1964 from pneumonia resulting from severe burns suffered in a wreck in the May 24 World 600 at Charlotte.
The memorabilia his daughter donated will be on display at the museum, 122 E. Fifth St., Apopka, until Oct. 31.
Admission to the fund-raising event, to be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Northwest Recreation Facility in Apopka on Jason Dwelley Parkway off Ponkan Road, is $10. Children under 12 will be admitted free. A full day of activities is planned, including autographs, a silent auction, live music and food and refreshments.
For more information, call the Museum of the Apopkans at (407) 703-1707 or visit www.apopkamuseum.org. Anyone wishing to participate in this event, should contact the museum or e-mail Jack Christmas at Jchristmas@cfl.rr.com. - floridatoday.com

2/24: On Thursday, February 15, the town of Ponce Inlet unveiled a monument to be placed at the North Turn Restaurant located where the actual North Turn of the old beach/road course was.
Russ Truelove hosted the event, telling the history of racing on the beach. Guests included Rex White, Johnny Allen, Vicki Wood, Greg Fielden, Raymond Parks, J.B. Day, Sig Haugdahl Jr. and Francis Flock.
This photo is what the monument will look like when it is finished. We all feel this is a giant step towards the State recognizing this as a Historical Site. We want to thank the town of Ponce Inlet for their recognition of this place that is dear to many of our hearts.
The North Turn Restaurant is located South of Dunlawton on A1A. It is approximately 3 miles from the Dunlawton approach on the left. It is located between two tall condos and has a parking lot across the street. They have lots of old racing photos that family members have given them to display. The food is great and the atmosphere and service is even better.
